  • Our church changed its name from St. Philomena’s Cathedral in 1958 to honor the first American citizen to be canonized a saint, Frances Xavier Cabrini. St. Frances Xavier Cabrini is the patron saint of immigrants.
  • The high altar at St. Frances Cabrini was donated by Mary Creighton in 1867, for $4900.00. It was carved in Italy out of Italian marble and shipped to the United States following the Civil War.
  • The clock tower on the Conagra campus was where St. Mary’s Church, the first Catholic church in the Nebraska territory was located.
