What is Bereavement Ministry?

Bereavement Ministry is an outreach ministry to support our parishioners who are mourning the death of a loved one. Bereavement ministers strive to be the compassionate heart and hands of Christ, walking beside and supporting another who is grieving.

How does it work?

Outreach is done as needed or on a quarterly basis the first year after the loss. On the first Wednesday of each month, Mass is offered for those who have died and for their loved ones. Each November, St. Frances Cabrini Parish celebrates a Mass of Remembrance for all who have died during the previous year. Gathering together at this annual event to pray, remember and honor those who have passed from this life, offers families support and love from their parish family.

Who can join?

This ministry is for anyone and everyone who feels called to serve fellow parishioners who have lost a loved one – from visiting their home, providing a meal, and/or praying for them.

How do I sign up?

If you have lost a loved one or know of a parishioner who has, or if you feel called to serve in this ministry, please contact Deacon Doug Lenz at dalenz@archomaha.org or Ann Lenz at amlenz@archomaha.org or call the parish office at (402) 934-7706.
